Crime Prevention Meeting This Wednesday

Reminder: Crime Prevention Meeting and Meet the New Police ChiefThis Wednesday evening, November 19, 7pm, at the Bobby Pearce Community Center
Because we seem to have had more than our share of ‘suspicious’ activity in recent weeks, NMCA wants to update residents on what we can do to protect ourselves and our neighborhood, especially with the Holidays right around the corner.  Crime usually increases during the weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is the worst time for fraud crimes. While crime begins to climb the week of Thanksgiving, it peaks around mid-December until January.

Our special guest will be the new police chief, Ken Miller.  He wants to get to know the communities and residents, and update us on his ideas and plans for the city and neighborhoods.  We will also hear from Officer Courtney Palmer, Greenville’s Crime Prevention Specialist.  She has crime data for the last 5 years that she will share, as well as what we can do to protect ourselves and our property, and who to call in particular situations.  She will also touch on the steps needed to develop a neighborhood watch, focusing on small areas, such as 3 adjacent streets, for example, since North Main is too large a community for one Neighborhood Watch Program.

Light refreshments will be served. Please come and take advantage of this opportunity to hear from our city officials and ask your questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
